The NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People) is currently recruiting new Youth Council Members.
The Youth Council serves as an extension of the NAACP that focuses on social justice activism addressing the concerns of young people. The objective is to teach and nurture civil rights without discrimination.
These ideas were proclaimed during the Akron Chapter’s Youth Council involvement in the 2018 “March for Our Lives” protest against gun violence.

- Economic Sustainability;
- Juvenile Justice.
The advantages of joining the Youth Council are:
- Free membership for the first year ($10 annually);
- Educational filed trips
- Collaborative efforts with others to address issues effecting adolescents and young adults;
- Enforcing leadership skills;
- Scholarship opportunities;
